Obesity

Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder, particularly among the affluent, all over the world. Obesity may be described as a condition characterized by excessive deposition of fat in the body. It is usually a result of consuming food in quantities more than the physiological requirement. Millions of rupees are spent every year on weight loss programs and in most cases there is strong tendency to regain weight.

An exclusive lemon juice diet is a very effective remedy for obesity. On the first day, only the juice of one lemon with plenty of water must be taken. On the second day, the diet should consist of the juice of three lemons mixed with an equal amount of water. Then, increase one lemon each day in the diet, until the juice of twelve lemons is consumed per day. Then decrease the number of lemons in the same order until one lemon is taken in a day. For first 2-3 days the diet may cause weakness but afterwards the condition will stabilize.

  • Drink warm water instead of refrigerated water.
  • Honey is the only sweetener that is allowed while treating obesity.
  • For cooking purposes, use sesame oil instead of ghee or refined oils.
  • Avoid eating substances prepared with refined wheat flour.
  • Abstain from dairy products and sweets prepared from milk and sugar.
  • Follow an active pattern of life.
  • Exercise daily. Walking, swimming, cycling and yoga are recommended.

  • Take 15 grains of pure guggul (resin of Amyris Agallochum, available at any grocers shop), three times a day.
  • Take a handful of leaves of jujube (Ber) and soak in the water overnight. Take this water in the morning on an empty stomach for one month.
