Ingredients:

Kathal (jack fruit)   120 g
Onion   50 g
Fat   for deep fat frying
Garlic   2 cloves
Coriander powder   1/4 tsp
Haldi   1/8 tsp
Ginger   5 g
Green chilli   1
Tomato   50
Salt   1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder   1/4 tsp
Garam masala   1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves   few
Fat   10 g(for masala)
 

Method:

  • Wash, dry and peel the kathal with greased hands and cut into pieces with a greased knife.
  • Deep fry to a golden brown colour and drain excess fat.
  • Grind onion, ginger, garlic and green chilli to a paste. Chop tomatoes.
  • Fry the onion paste to a brown colour in fat adding little water intermittently and drying it off. Add chopped tomatoes and seasoning and fry again.
  • Add fried pieces of kathal, fry for 2-4 minutes, add water and simmer for 15 minutes on slow fire.
  • Serve hot sprinkled with garam masala and chopped coriander leaves.
