Urad washed |

80 g (160 g soaked dal) |
Ginger |
|
1" piece |
Onion |

10 g |
Water |
|
1/3 Cup (double the volume of dry dal taken) |
Salt |

1 tsp |
Red chilli |

1/4 tsp |
Cumin Seeds |

1/4 tsp |
Turmeric powder |

1/4 tsp |
Garam masala |

1/4 tsp |
Fat |

Coriander leaves |

Method: |
- Pick, wash and soak the dal for 1/2 hour. Chop ginger and onion.
- Heat fat, add chopped ginger and onion and fry till golden brown. Add cumin seeds and rest of the spices. Fry for a minute. Add soaked dal and water (use the water used for soaking).
- Cook on slow fire till water evaporates and dal is tender and dry with grains separate.
- Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
