Im looking for some support with my weight loss journey.I would really find it helpful to find out what others are struggling with and what they do to overcome their dilemmas. Its so hard with an indian diet and our genetics dont help. Most of us put weight on around the stomach and its so hard to get rid of. Any ideas or tips?

Re: Weight Loss Frustrations!
Consult your doctor berfoe starting a weight deprivation and/or exercise regime. If you decide to start a rutine of exercise and diet you should start very slowlyand consult your doctor if you start feeling any discomfort, trouble or any othersymptoms. If you start feeling soreness or sickness when you exercise, do notcontinue. Remember to use comfortable clothes when you exercise, also remember some dietsor exercise rutines are not intended for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, or for anyfellow under the age of 18.
Ayurveda4uall is filled with wisdom that we Americans lack. For weight loss I do excercise with kettlebell. You work 300+++ muscles at the same time, unlike regular weight lifting or the treadmill.
Here is a website:

Have a plan- which includes work out/ proper diet...that way when you fail on some days and feel guilty you can go back to the plan....do a lot of cardio - make your heart beat faster....it will give you confidence...
I work out about 3 times per day and I saw results within a month. I started taking a weight loss supplement and felt more energy so getting started in exercising wasnt so difficult. I recommend a pill with DHEA - check out http://www.vimulti.com as an example - acai berry is also a nice boost for the metabolism

I have responded to the query above...start doing some basic stuff and am sure you will feel the difference.....feel free to send in any more queries.....:)
Don't get tempted once you have decided to tread this path of becoming fit, always try and think of ways /things to replace the unhealthy food with healthier options....allow some cheat days

Suggest you start few basic things first. remember it is very important to follow these in your journey of being fit, but few things you should stop worrying about
It is more important to be fit first, so don't bother much about what you weigh
Your BMI will give you some guidelines on what should be your ideal weight, but don't bother too much.. Now the important things you should start doing
1. Drink atleast 6-8 glasses of water over the day
2.If you have sedentary lifestyle or otherwise too , include very basic physical activity in your routine...Start with a walk ( don't worry about speed) of a distance comfortable. Can be done even in your house, if you don't get time to go out. The key is to measure how much do you walk and to start this. Increase the distance as you progress to 2nd week and so on. I am sure by the end of 3-4 weeks you will start enjoying. Also if it is not possible to do on weekdays start with weekends.
Stop or reduce sweets (if possible even in beverages like tea / coffee). The tea / coffee tastes really good without sugar.
Consult a dietitan and get your self a healthy diet ( optional but it is good)
Stop or reduce fried food....only exception is weekend.
Ensure that you eat atleast one serving of fruits.
Start these basic things follow for a month and hopefully they will become part of your daily routine. You might have to kick yourself in the begining to do the above. Don't bother much in case you miss one or two days in between..you can always make up...Ultimately the gain is going to be yours and you will see the changes. The best way to see the change is try your old clother 9 one size lesser than your current size)..they sure are the best motivators.
Hi All,
In the begining I thought It would be very difficult, but actually it is very easy to lose and manage your weight. I stuck to basics as has been suggested by an expert.
Drink lots of water - had atleast 2L of water everyday
Some physical activity - I was not able to join a gym or do any workout. I started with walking just a KM a day and now have started enjoying walking and do 3 KM on weekday and 10 KM on weekends.
Support- Have someone to support you and inc ase there is no one Try your old clothes and commit that you will fit into them.
Fruits / nuts - I completely stopped junk food and replaced my snacks ( Fav - SAmosa) with healthy snacks like mixed nuts and fruits.
You just need a little discipline.
Try it slowly and don't bother abiut quick results. The slowly the you loose weight the better it is. I still have some cheat days esp on weekends.:)
Hi Vidhu, Please let us know what exctally helped you to loose weight and maintain it. It has been difficult for me to loose weight and I usually regain. So your tips will be helpful. Thanks
Hey,
It's not as difficult as it seems. I agree that we have tendency to put on weight around our waist.
I used to weight 97 Kgs 13 months ago and am now 78 kgs and have been maintaining that from last 6 months.
I didn't have the time and money for expensive personal trainer or fad diets.
Have tried many things in my journey and finally the diet and a little discipline helped me achieve my target. Let me know if you want know more on what I did.
