Re: need help in weight loss
Hi everyone, I'm glad I looked online for a weight loss support group today. Is this space quite active? If not, can you recommend good online communities?
I am 5ft 4in and 88 kg and have been overweight for almost 20 years. I've also been hypo-thyroid since I was 10 so have always struggled with weight loss. I managed to become quite thin in my teens and felt so pretty.
However when I went abroad to study, I put on a lot of weight fast and this damaged my self esteem greatly. Im now 36 years almost, never married and am tired of my body image holding me back.
Lately I have been regular with yoga, eating mostly natural foods quite often through the day, going for walks with my dogs. Now Im trying to eat the same food at the same time every day which has worked for me in the past.
Do please share encouraging success stories if anything I've said has struck a chord. Thanks very much!
Hello everyone', I just read some awesome post in this thread. I have a target of 20kgs starting from today. I relate to so many of you and this time I want to get it right . I have been trying to loose weight but end up binging on sweets. It's the guilt trips that hurt the most. I want to loose at least 15 kgs by this year end or may be in January 2013. The most depressing and tiring thing is de motivation . That's killing me...more I suppress my self , more I eat ....most of the time it is comfort eating ...to feel good and stuff....wish me luck and wish u all a speedy weight loss.....
Hey every one, I am back again.I had posted below post where I thought of trying food diary. I actually did give it a try and it helped me a lot.Plus since now my mdeiciation is good and I kept a food diary , I could control my diet better.Seeing small changes in my body weight, I was motivated enough to exercise daily. I started exercise around OCt 6th, with starting weight of 186.2 pounds, I dropped to 179.4 on Oct 24th. I really fel great and motivated now.Fingers crossed, would weigh again on this weekend. I too had some cheat days, dining outs bcz of occassions and festivals,or sm guests coming home for dinner.but if after that also, could see changes , I am sure you also can.If I can do it, you can do it too.All the very best.
yes, i did try the food diary, but even after working out for 2-3 months, I could not figure out why I was not losing weight. I was utterly disappointed. COuld not feel like putting in more effort.....And jst quit exercise again.
I did not eat anything bad and had minimal diet and that too I had wriitten every bite I ate.
Then for some reason , I had to visit my Dr and during the diagnosis , it was found I have HypoThyroid. And all this time, I could not lose weight bcz of thyroid issues. But now I realize, had I not exercised earlier, i might have had put on more . So, now back to square one. At 85 kgs utter disappointment, want to b at a healthy 60 kg . And thanks for reminding about food diary.I had almost forgotten about this :-)..
Hey Any one has any updates to share?Did not hear from Arushi from long.from my side, I cureently weigh 85 and need to loose 25 kgs too.Everytime I start with a bang, and within 2-3 days I start feeling demotivated and being an emotional eater , jump onto food without realizing. Hey All, After help and inputs from all I have managed to lose 8 kgs, from 87 to 79 kgs. Feel great and am trying now to maintain it.
What about you friends?
while restricting sweets, it is natural to have strong urge to eat it. It is okay if you had sweets. it must be 200-300 kcal excess than your expected intake. But you need to be cautious while selecting sweets, try to avoid fried or high fat sweet preparations such as laddoo with ghee; malai burfi, gujia etc.
you can go for piece of dark chocolate, jam, jelly, fresh dates, raisins, nut chikki etc.
I feel these preparations will provide just the sugar but fat is in less amount...so less harm of gaining weight.
Hi Manasi, very nice initiative. you can eat fresh fruits during whole day..please do not starve. Also consume light dinner while releasing the fast. (i mean do not hog on the food...fried or sweets)
Hi ALL......today is my Monday vrat...will be following it for coming 4 Mondays in this month. Any tip how i can make this Fast healthy and lose a kg per week?????
Please give me your tips...need that.
My personal experience has been that if I drink Luke Warm water through out the day and add a teaspoon of amla juice/aloe vera juice/boiled tulsi leaves extract; I feel very light and UN-Bloated. Moreover colon cleansing with triphala and isabgol is really helping me feel clean and light by atleast 2Kgs.
I have heard about Japanese water therapy. you need to drink 2-4 glasses of water after getting up in the morning. and do not take anything else till next 30 mins. it helps you in relieving constipation, losing weight... controlling blood pressure etc.
I am doing this since last 3-4 weeks. It helped me. you can also try...
This is for all the friends here. Secret to lose weight - Drink as much water as you can over the day. Take at least 7-8 glasses of water. Although one might need to use rest room quite often, but this will speed up your weight loss.Try it and you will see the results

Hi,
I think that weekends can be excused, but please ensure that you keep a check on the quantities of the food intake. Also try to have some self control in terms of eating the healthy food as well on weekends.
Engaging in moderate physical activity for 30 minutes five or more times per week substantially reduces the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity, and walking is an easy and accessible way to achieve this goal.
thats great.....even i could do my exercise consecutively for fifth day in this week. walking for 30-45 mins...what other exercise I can do as can not go to gym but can spare another 10-15 mins at home. any one if have any clue pls guide me.
And yes also able to stick to my diet for last whole week....i am excited for result...hope i can see some change......
